At St Joseph’s we believe that children should eat nutritional snacks and drink water regularly throughout the school day.
To promote healthy eating we run a fruit shop every morning break time where the children can purchase a variety of fresh fruit including; an assortment of apples, bananas, tangerines, melons and grapes.
We also encourage the children to get their 5 a day by giving all pupils an incentive buying fruit card. Every time a child buys a piece of fruit they receive one fruit stamp, once they have 10 fruit stamps they can pick one piece for free.
To Promote Fitness combined with healthy eating we run
“St Joseph’s Healthy Kids Club” 3 Lunch times a week.
The main focus being physical activity but healthy eating is also incorporated into the sessions
As a healthy school we are successful in helping pupils to do their best and build on their achievements. We are also committed to ongoing improvement and development.
We promote physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equipping pupils with the skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health.
St Josephs Junior School understands the importance of investing in health to assist in the process of raising levels of pupil achievement and improving standards.
A Healthy School involves the whole school community – from parents to governors to school staff – in improving their health and their happiness and getting the most out of life.
